Amruta Yeolekar

Born and raised in the heart of Bollywood, Amruta brings advanced technique and intricate, lyrically-rooted choreography–all while flashing that signature smile. Her confidence and versatility shine through both her performance and her teaching style, whether she is teaching a Lavani (Marathi folk dance) or a hip hop number.
Amruta has been part of Doonya’s faculty in 2008, where she trained under Kajal Desai—Doonya’s co-founder and managing director. She has taught a wide range of students from tots to advanced adults classes.
As a member of the Doonya Dance Performance Company, she performed and choreographed for the DDPC’s 2008 production BOLLYB!end, which was a sold-out show at the historic Atlas Performing Arts Center in DC, as well as for a music video featuring DDPC.
Other key Doonya performances include: the So You Think You Can Dance 2012 official National Dance Day celebration in Washington DC, the National Cherry Blossom Festival, Fiesta Asia, and DC’s first Bollywood Flash Mob!
Amruta moved to the U.S. after choreographing, performing and teaching various Indian dance styles in Mumbai, India.
